How to Treat Sensitive Teeth

Sensitive teeth can be treated, but the treatment solely depends on what is causing the problem. Some causes include fractured teeth, worn fillings, exposed tooth roots, worn tooth enamel, gum disease, and tooth decay. So, depending on the cause of your tooth sensitivity, Dr. Sohrab Saghezchi might recommend one or more of the following treatments:

· Desensitizing toothpaste: Desensitizing toothpaste is a great product that can help your tooth sensitivity after you have used it multiple times. The compound in the paste can cover and block the pathways that lead to the nerve of the tooth, therefore reducing the sensitivity.
· Fluoride gel: Fluoride gel is an in-office treatment that strengthens your tooth enamel and also blocks the pathways leading to the tooth’s nerve.
· Dental work: Dental work, like a crown, inlay, or bonding, can help with the sensitivity by correcting a flaw in the tooth or eliminating tooth decay.
· Surgical gum graft: Surgical gum grafting can help if your tooth roots have been exposed. This generally occurs when your gums pull away from your teeth because of gum disease. The graft can pull your gums into place, protect the root, and reduce the sensitivity.
· Root canal therapy: If the sensitivity cannot be cured from the mentioned treatments, we will happily provide root canal therapy. This will surely eliminate the problem.
