Restore a Broken Tooth by Installing a Dental Implant

There are times when a hard fall, blow the face or other oral accident can crack, fracture or break a tooth. In many cases, a broken tooth experiences so much damage that your Mill Valley Dental dentist has to extract it to prevent additional complications.

Once your gums have healed following the extraction, we can help you get a clear understanding of your restoration options. One of the most common restoration treatments is to have a dental implant installed.

If the tooth has caused the loss of bone structure in the area, Dr. Sohrab Saghezchi might recommend receiving a bone graft before we place the implant.

The dental implant procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis. Most people choose to be deeply sedated, so you will need to have someone drive you to and from your appointment.

During the treatment, a small incision will be made in your gums and a titanium abutment will be screwed into place. Titanium is a biologically safe metal that, in time, will fuse to your natural jawbone.

After your gums have healed and the implant has fused with the bone, we can start fully restoring the tooth with a standard dental crown.
