Replace Multiple Missing Teeth With Dental Implants

Over the course of the last two decades, dental implants have slowly started to become a new standard for replacing or restoring the full oral function of people who have lost one or more teeth. At first dental implants were only used to replace a single missing tooth.

In recent years, dental implant technology has expanded its range so that now they can be used to install a bridge to restore multiple missing teeth.

The process starts with a Mill Valley Dental dentist examining your mouth and taking a few X-rays. It’s important to assess your jaw structure. If past issues with advanced periodontal disease, or past extractions have caused a loss of bone structure, you might need to receive a bone graft in the area.

The implant procedure requires you to be sedated. This means you will need to arrange to have a friend or family member drive you home afterward.

During the procedure, two small incisions are made in your gums to gain direct access to the bone. A narrow channel is made for each corresponding abutment. Then a titanium implant is screwed into each. In time the titanium will naturally fuse to your jaw structure to feel just like a natural tooth.

Your gums will be sutured closed and each abutment will be protected under a temporary crown while they fuse to the bone.

When the abutments are ready your Mill Valley Dental dentist can fit you for a standard bridge to restore the full function and appearance of the missing teeth for many years to come.

If you are missing multiple teeth in one part of your mouth, you should call Mill Valley Dental’s clinic in Mill Valley, California to discuss restoring them with dental implants.
