Using the Best Toothbrush

You may not consider it to be a big deal, but the quality of the toothbrush you use actually plays a part in the state of your oral health. The wrong kind of brush can make cleaning more difficult, and lessen how effective your brushing really is.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of what Dr. Sohrab Saghezchi recommends you look for when buying a toothbrush.

Soft bristles

The best way to remove plaque and other debris from your mouth is by using a brush that has soft bristles. Harder bristles have a tendency to push debris further into the cracks in between teeth, instead of teasing them out. Soft bristles are also far better on your enamel.

Round heads

Have you ever wondered why the brush our team uses here at Mill Valley Dental is round? That’s because small, round-headed brushes are much more effective at reaching areas of the mouth that are hard to clean.

Powered brushes are best

Electric brushes with electronic round heads are the best at cleaning because they’re essentially what we use here at our office to clean your teeth. These move in circular motions – the best for cleaning teeth – and are particularly effective at removing plaque.

If you’re not sure whether the toothbrush you use measures up to these standards, or you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us today at 415-578-5879.
